Frequently Asked Questions

contact information

What kinds of conditions do you treat?

We help bring the endocrine system back into balance and also address neurological issues.  Our most common conditions treated are: thyroid (hypo, hyper, Hashimoto’s), diabetes, auto-immune, hormone issues, MTHFR, balance and cognitive dysfunction, depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADD, ADHD.

What do you do that is different from my doctor

We practice functional medicine. Our goal is to discover the underlying cause of the problem and bring the body back into balance naturally instead of just prescribing medications to stop the symptoms. Traditonal medicine treats symptoms, which often results in an endless string of medications.  Each new medication creates a symptom that requires another medication to help with that symptom.  By looking at the entire system to find the underlying cause, functional medicine pracitioners can bring the body into balance reducing the need for medication.

Will you be able to prescribe medications as needed or take me off of medications?

No, but we will work with your prescribing doctors to help you with this.

Do you take my insurance?

We work with all insurance companies.  The doctor and his staff will go over that  with you during your consultation once the doctor does an exam and case history and knows what he needs to do for you.  Everything is customized in our office.  We also offer payment plans for any uncovered services, co-pays, or unpaid deductibles.

Your doctors are chiropractors, how can they treat endocrine conditions like thyroid or diabetes?

Most people don’t know how chiropractors are trained.   The difference is that medical doctors are trained to use medication and procedures/surgeries to treat their patients and doctors of chiropractic are trained to use more natural approaches.  See comparison chart below.  Additionally, our clinic director decided to go to medical school at the age of 53.  He has finished his classwork and has a 4.03 GPA.  Dr. Ungar also has more than 750 post-graduate hours in functional medicine and functional neurology training.

What can I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit will last about an hour.  It is an informational session with Dr. Ungar during which he will explain how the endocrine system of the body works and why our treatment approach is a solution for most people.  We are not a good fit for everyone so we offer these consultations for free so you can decide for yourself.

After the informational session, you can schedule an in depth consultation with Dr. Ungar. That visit lasts about 75 minutes and costs $99.  We will give you lots of paperwork to fill out at home and bring back to your appointment.  The paperwork is very detailed and allows the doctor to help determine the right treatment. At the end of that visit, Dr. Ungar will let you know if he thinks you would be a good fit in our clinic and put together a treatment plan for you.  If you decide to move forward with care, you will meet with our patient care coordinator who will set you up for your diagnostic testing and get you started.

What is your success rate?

It really depends on the type and severity of the condition being treated and the commitment of the patient but  Dr. Ungar has been practicing functional medicine for more than 18 years and been a doctor for 30+ years so he must be doing something right.  J  We have hundreds of written and video testimonials from our patients.
